Hello crafters! Get ready to embark on a creative safari adventure with this adorable mini album I made for Simple Stories, featuring the oh-so-cute Say Cheese Wild collection. This collection has everything you need to capture that Animal Kingdom vibe, with wild animals, vibrant patterns, and elements that are perfect for your safari-themed memories.
This mini album is filled with theme park photos and was designed in a fun, compact format—perfect for flipping through your wildest adventures! I’ve added some creative twists to make it unique, so grab your supplies and let’s jump into the step-by-step guide!
Album Dimensions:
- Size: Cover is 2 ½ x 7 ¾ inches and each page is a 2 x 7 1/2 inches vertical layout, bound with a single metal ring.
- Theme: Safari adventure with a cute and playful vibe—think giraffes, jeeps, and lots of green!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Say Cheese Wild paper collection from Simple Stories
- Chipboard for the cover
- Foam stickers, cardstock stickers, and enamel dots for decorating
- Metal ring for binding the pages
- Your favorite photos (I used ones printed in a fun Photo Booth style!)
Step 1: Prepping the Pages
Start by cutting your cardstock papers into 2 x 7 1/2 inches for each page of your mini album. This vertical layout gives it a cool twist and plenty of space to show off your safari pics and decorations! Once you’ve got your pages cut, you can punch a hole at the top center of each page where the metal ring will go. This will hold the album together and allow you to flip through the pages easily.
Step 2: Building the Cover
To make the album durable and give it that polished look, I created a hardcover using chipboard for the front and back. Cut two pieces of chipboard slightly larger than the pages (2 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches) and cover them with patterned paper from the Say Cheese Wild collection. This gives the album a solid base and helps protect all your beautiful pages inside.
Step 3: Decorating the Cover
Now the fun part—let’s decorate the cover! I used a combination of foam stickers, cardstock stickers, and enamel dots to make it pop. The cute little jeep, some jungle leaves, and of course the “Let the Adventure Begin” sentiment set the tone for this wild project. Layering different textures and elements (like foam and enamel) gives the cover a rich, dimensional feel that’s irresistible.
Step 4: Adding the Photos
For this mini album, I decided to go with a Photo Booth style for the photos—it’s such a cute way to keep the focus on the memories while adding a playful touch. I printed the photos in narrow strips that fit perfectly with the vertical format of the pages. If you don’t have a Photo Booth app, you can simply resize your photos in your favorite photo editor!
Step 5: Embellishing the Pages
Each page of the album is a blank canvas to let your creativity shine. I used a mix of bits and pieces, foam stickers, and enamel dots from the Say Cheese Wild collection to embellish the pages around my photos. You can also use washi tape and journal bits a little here and there—after all, every wild adventure deserves a story!
Step 6: Putting It All Together
Once your pages are beautifully decorated, stack them together and secure them with the metal ring. The great thing about this binding is that you can easily add more pages later if you’ve got more safari memories to include. It’s also super convenient to flip through!
Creating this wild adventure mini album was such a blast, and I hope this tutorial inspires you to make your own! The Say Cheese Wild collection has all the elements you need to bring the jungle right to your crafting table. So grab your papers, some foam adhesive, and start crafting your own wild memories today! —I’d love to see your creations!
