Hi Simple Stories friends! It’s Cheryl on the blog with a simple mini album/tag flip featuring the new Front Porch collection.
I love getting inspired by the collection I am working with itself. There are so many beautiful icons in Front Porch and one I kept seeing a lot was a picture frame and I thought why not use that for the inspiration of this mini album. Instead of a normal chipboard cover I turned the front cover into a frame, so you can peek inside the album!
The chipboard base measures 4.5x6 Inches (front and back) and 1.5x6 Inches (spine). I used a beautiful peachy pink patterned paper from the collection kit to wrap the album base. If you want to add a frame you need to cut this out of the chipboard base first before wrapping it in paper. I added layering patterned paper with foam strips to give it some dimension. It’s up to you if you want to have a transparent frame or add a photo - for my album I used a small piece of acetate to give it that transparent frame.
Instead of a traditional album with pages I opted for a tag flip - I love adding them into albums, because it makes them so interesting. Tag flips are a fun way of documenting memories when you don’t want to fill an entire page with journalling, photos etc. because each tag is so small. I like having a variety of tags and paper in various different sizes to add a lot of interest. There are so many fun ways of decorating each page/tag: get inspired by the paper you used and add ephemera that matches any patterns, create a monochromatic tag, add just journalling or just photos… the possibilities are endless and it’s so much fun to put it together on a binder ring once you’re done.
Front Porch is such a lovely collection to document precious moments spent at home with your loved ones! I hope this project inspires you to try a new twist on something you’re already creating!
