Hi friends! Emilie Chamel here for Simple stories and this month I am beyond excited to create with the Mix and a mingle Collection. I adore thus collection with its cookie 50s tones!
Any collection designed by Kelly Bangs for Simple Stories always goes straight to my favourite ones. The colours, the elements and the quirky imagery are always a hot pick for me!
I wanted to create a Christmas tree design for this layout. I decided to do it in a slightly different way, in line with the quirkiness of the collection. I designed the tree with embroidery thread, eyelets and sequins and then threaded lots of the baubles BITS and PIECES ephemera.
My photographs also became part of the tree. I cut them in a circle shape and mounted them onto patterned papers slightly bigger. I also threaded them onto the tree.
For the background I chose the simplest patterned paper which gave a feel of a snowy sky.
With such a busy design, I didn’t want to have too big of a title. The simple “Merry Christmas” from the chipboards was perfect for that.
Once all the elements were threaded on the tree, I attached all the ephemeris and photos to the background with double sided foam pads so that they wouldn’t move around.
To counter balance the heavy tree design, I layered two pieces of torn papers on the right hand-side of my layout.
I finished off the layout by attaching a few more floral ephemera onto the baubles on the tree.
