Time To Sparkle! By Amber Mitchell

Time To Sparkle! By Amber Mitchell

Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you a fun, star shaped mini album I created using the new Stars, Stripes and Sparklers collection! This collection just screams all things Red, White, and Blue!

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays—I love spending time with family, barbecuing, and watching fireworks late at night. It has such a fun, free-spirited, summer feeling to it all!  And with hopes to spend this year doing just that with my family, I decided to create an album ahead of time to document all of the festivities.

To make this album, I first created a cut file using my Cricut software. This cut file consisted of two mirrored stars that I welded together using rectangular hinges. I then cut four copies of this file from the following shades of the Simple Stories Color Vibe cardstock: Red, Navy, Teal and Cream. This created the pages of my mini album. I layered these pages one on top of the next and then folded the whole stack in half. Then I slipped them all through a 4-inch gold paperclip and machine stitched across the hinges to hold the album together and in place on the clip.

Next, I cut mats from all of the patterned papers in the Stars, Stripes and Sparklers collection. These mats are slightly smaller than the stars of the base of my album. I distressed the edges of all of these mats by running the edge of my scissors along them. I then machine stitched around all sixteen of them for some added texture and adhered them to the base of my album using some sticky, double-sided tape.

With the base of the album assembled, I moved onto embellishing. First, I created a dangle of tassels using some scrap papers from the collection and some beads from my stash. I love adding charms and dangles to all of my projects for an extra touch!

I then created 2 x 2-inch photo mats using the scraps from the Color Vibe cardstock in the shade CREAM. I stitched around the edges of these mats and then added one to every other page in my album. This created seven spaces for photos in the album.

Next, I used the 12 x 12 sticker sheet that came with collection kit to embellish all the pages of my album. I used the phrase stickers on each photo mat to add some sentiments throughout the album while using the larger stickers to embellish the empty pages.

To document the year, 2021, I used the Simple Stories Color Vibe foam alpha stickers in the shade WARM WHITE.

I cannot wait to celebrate the 4th of July with my loved ones this year and I’m equally excited to document all those fun memories in this cute star-shaped mini! Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today! I’ll see you next time with another fun project!
