The Story Of Us! by Odessa Reichel

The Story Of Us! by Odessa Reichel

Hi everyone, Odessa here with another Flipbook to share with you using the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Ancestry collection. It has a rich traditional feel and I used it to document some family traditions.

I used the Teal Flipbook because it went well with the blue tones in Simple Vintage Ancestry. Of course, I covered it up right away with some cardstock because I love decorating the Flipbook covers. You can still see that beautiful colour on the inside though. I used the back side of the 4x6 Elements Cardstock over the cover. I then used the beautiful Moss coloured cardstock from the coordinating 12x12 basics kit to make a spine. I love that old book feel this look gives, especially in these more weathered looking papers. I then used some of the Ancestry washi tape along the seam and a couple of the photo corners on the outer corners.

I could have just left it after covering the cover with cardstock and it would have looked good, but I wanted to add more! The Chipboard Frames are such a great starting point for cover embellishment. It lends some dimension to build around. Starting with one of the frames I added the Moss cardstock behind it to match the spine and filled it with a big foam sticker title and a few stickers from the Ancestry Sticker book. I added some more layers on top of the frame too with the classic camera layered sticker, a tag from the Bits & Pieces and some small stickers and brads.

Inside is a page from one of my favourite new family traditions, a yearly post-Christmas getaway. I used mix of all kinds of embellishments and cards to fill the Flipbook pockets up. There are lots of nods to more traditional albums with photo corners, frames and labels all over the page. The Banner Stickers are great for adding fun frames too.

I kept it simple with this feature photo. I used some bold red photo corners from the Vintage Combo Stickers and a darling label from the Bits & Pieces.

I just love these paint chips from the Combo Sticker sheet. They’re so playful! I put them on top of a 3x4 card cut from the Simple Vintage Life Stories cardstock. I layered on a couple of embellishments that matched the colour of the paint chip stickers to make a pretty card to fill the pocket up.

I really liked the This is Us 2x2 card from the Simple Vintage 2x2 Element sheet. I put it on top of a piece of 3x4 cardstock and then added more 2x2 cards all around it. Then I just cut it back down to 3x4 to make this easy and cute vintage-y feel card. This collection is great for documenting all kinds of family things, family trees, family events and it would look so good with heirloom family photos. It was just what I needed to document these family traditions.
