The Good Life

The Good Life

Hello crafty friends! It's Rebeca Ruiz in the blog today with a multi-photo layout using the sweet Tea Garden collection by Simple Stories. Recently we went to a restaurant and while waiting for the food, my daughter asked me to take a walk with her around a small garden they had. There we found the cute teal chair in the photos, and she fell in love with it and asked me for some photos. I'm a photo lover, so I was more than happy to take a few shots of her that I can use later to scrapbook and for those photos, the Tea Garden collection was a perfect match!

After checking the collection, I looked for photos that would match the colors and theme and chose those three. They are very similar, but you can see the difference in her hands and head. To make one of them the focus of the layout, I printed it a little bit bigger and matted it using two patterned papers from the 6x8 pad. Then, I chose other patterned papers from the 12" x 12" kit to create layers of contrasting papers that will be on the background to enhance the photos.

I mixed the designs and colors to create interest and contrast. For the photos I used a lime plaid paper, then behind it a big piece of the mint plaid paper and smaller pieces of the yellow floral paper. On the bottom and left side of the papers I added two scalloped borders from the die cuts. By using them, I added interest to the layout. Before adding them, I reduced the white cardstock and matted it with a Lime Color Vibe cardstock, then matted both of them with the beautiful pink polka dot paper.

On the corners of the focal photo, I added a floral die cut and a bird house with a few flowers. These two embellishments help to reinforce the focal point, bringing the viewers' attention to that area.

For additional texture, I stitched a border around the white cardstock and around the mint plaid paper. I love the look of stitches in layouts. On the upper corner of the page, I added a chipboard banner and to help the title stand out of the papers, I used two tags from the papers to anchor it. The cloud is from the foam stickers and the sun is from the 12" x 12" sticker sheet. Aren't the sun and bees cute?

To balance the layout, I added a label to the upper left corner and embellished it with a gnome from the sticker sheet, a chipboard bee and a foam floral. The teal phrase is also from the 12" x 12" sticker sheet.

Finally, I added a few small embellishments around the layout. For that, I used foam stickers, chipboards, die cuts, decorative brads, and enamel dots. Adding those little pieces is my favorite part of the creative process, the hard part is to decide when to stop.

Thank you so much for your visit. I hope you like this layout I as much as I do, and it inspires you to craft. Don't forget to come back soon for more inspiration.
