We're so excited to welcome back Cheryl Guerreiro to our 2023 design team. We can't wait to share her work with you. Before we jump into that, we want you to get to know Cheryl a little better.
Hi! I’m Cheryl and I live in London with my husband and cat. I have a corporate job during the day and craft at night. There is nothing better than playing with papers and stickers after a busy day - it’s so calming and a great way to stay mindful. I am so excited to start another term with the best team ever!
3 Fun Facts:
I watch true crime documentaries or the real housewives when I craft.
I love scented candles.
I’ve seen British Singer Will Young live over 70 times in the last 20 years.

Hey Simple Stories friends! It’s Cheryl here today showing you what I have created using the wonderful new My Story collection.
One of my favourite icons of this entire collection is the cat sitting on top of a pile of books. I have a cat and one of my goals for this year is to read more books, so I wanted to use this as inspiration for my project. This adorable book box holds a mini album, waiting to be filled with photos and memories.
This book box looks really pretty on a shelf and hidden inside is a mini album. I picked a very neutral black/white patterned paper and layered it with the fun storefront paper for more interest and detail. I used one of the chipboard frames and created flower clusters in two of the corners, embellished it with chipboard stickers and completed it with one of the title foam stickers. I used ribbon to create a closure, to help keep the mini album inside.
The mini album measures 3 inches wide, so I was able to use cut-apart patterned paper, which vary in height as well as my favourite pieces from the 3x4 element paper. I have stitched around every page with gold metallic thread for extra texture and also created two shakers: one clear shaker and one shaker using one of the papers. I did very light embellishing on the pages to keep as much as space as possible for photos and journalling.
I have tried to alternate the lengths of each page, to make the album more fun and interesting. There is also plenty of space for more photos and embellishments on the back of each page. I have punched two holes at the top of each tag and use two binder rings to hold the album together. Additional pages or even larger photos can easily be added and tags can be moved around or removed if needed. I love creating mini albums using binder rings for this reason.
My Story is such a wonderful collection to document personal highlights and things we are proud of. I hope my project inspires you to create something wonderful and full of memories of YOU!
