Hello Simple Stories friends! It’s Cheryl here on the blog today, sharing a fun and unique way to create cards using the Simple Sets Swim collection and Color Vibe cardstock!
I absolutely love the bright, playful designs in this collection—perfect for capturing all the fun of swimming! Instead of traditional square or rectangle cards, I decided to mix things up with half-circle shaped cards for a fresh and fun twist!
Each of my cards measures 6.5 x 4.25 inches when folded, starting with a card base that I cut into a half-circle shape. To do this, you can simply use a large circle die or trace a round object (like a plate) to create a curved edge.
For my backgrounds, I used Color Vibe cardstock and paired them with Simple Sets Swim:
Take Your Mark - Navy
Flip Turn (B-side)- Lilac
Elements (B-side) - Buttercup
Take Your Mark (B-side) - Sky
Flip Turn - Peony
Once my bases were ready, it was time to layer and embellish! I used ephemera pieces from the Page Pieces pack and stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet to create a fun scene on each card. To add a little bit of dimension I used Color Vibe Foam Alpha stickers to spell sentiments in warm white and I sprinkled a variety of enamel dots around each embellishment cluster for an extra pop of color.
These half-circle cards were so much fun to make and are perfect for swimmers in your family or friend circle! I hope this inspires you to get creative and try a new card shape in your next project.
