Hey Simple Stories friends! I’m on the blog today with this fun and spooky mini album using the new Simple Vintage Scary Stories collection.
I wanted a tall and slim album for this project and decided to make it into a traveler’s notebook size. I also wanted to make it an album that has pages that can be switched around, so I definitely wanted to have an elastic thread on the spine.
I chose paper for the outside of the album and cut it down to 8 x 8.5 Inches. On the long side I scored at 4 and 4.5 Inches. For extra stability I also added layering paper on both the inside as well as the outside of the cover. The layering pieces are a little bit smaller, because I wanted the beautiful background paper to show a little bit. They are 7.75 x 3.75 Inches for the front and back panels and 7.75 x a little bit smaller than 0.5 Inches for the spine.
Then it was time for the spine! I added two eyelets to the top and bottom of the spine and then added gold elastic and used some of the adhesive brads as charms on the elastic! I just sandwiched two brads around the elastic and added liquid glue and that turned them into charms!!
I chose a variety of patterned papers for my pages and also cut my paper down into different sizes. I love how the different pages look all together in one album. For extra detail I also machine stitched around each paper.
After I’ve selected my photos (a couple of random ones I took in London recently!) I decorated each page with a mix of embellishments from the collection. To help keep the album closed I used a small strip of paper that I glued to the back of the album and folded it towards the front where it closes with a Velcro dot. Get those spooky photos documented with Simple Vintage Scary Stories! I hope this post inspires you :)
