Christmas is a time for magic, tradition, and precious memories. What better way to preserve those moments than with a scrapbook layout that radiates nostalgia and holiday cheer? Today, I am sharing a project created with the stunning Simple Stories Simple Vintage Holly Jolly Collection, which perfectly blends vintage charm with festive joy.
For this project, the Nice List patterned paper serves as the background for the photo of my visit with Santa in 1979 at the local mall. The vintage color palette in this collection works beautifully with my picture; additionally, I added Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of the papers to make them a bit dingier.
To back the photo, I used two patterned papers cut into the shape of banners, an edge punch along the top of both, and then machine stitched them to the background. After adhering the picture, I used vintage ribbons from my stash and tied them around the smaller of the two banner shapes. I love the dimension the ribbons add to the project.
Next, I began embellishing the layout, which I tried to keep simple since the patterned papers and ribbons are so prominent.
The title was one of the last items I added, and it was created using a partial rub-on and foam “Santa” sticker. My journaling was simple as well with just a short sentiment and the date.
To complete the project, I added stamped images throughout and splattered white paint on the patterned papers. Every layout becomes more meaningful when you include a story, so don’t be afraid to write directly on the page—it adds authenticity.
