Outdoor Adventures! by Nathalie DeSousa

Hello Simple Stories friends!

Nathalie here to share a new project created with the beautiful Simple Vintage Lakeside collection from Simple Stories. This new collection is gorgeous! The vintage feel and modern color palette is just perfect to document all your outdoor stories. Since we live next to the riverbank, this collection is just what we needed to safe keep all our outings in our neighborhood!

I always look at all the chipboard frames whenever I get a new collection, I just love them. Once I backed the frame with a picture of my daughter in one of our afternoon walks, then it was all about adding layers behind the frame.

I am using one of the 6x8 papers, as well as Sandstone Basic paper as layers on the Take New Trails patterned paper. The paper layers help to ground the frame to the background.

To continue the layered look of the chipboard frame, I added pieces of ephemera, and stickers behind the frame. I elongated the design by adding a small cluster at the top left corner of the papers. I limited my color palette to greens, teals and browns. This helped me to keep the picture as the focal point of the page.

I wanted to bring more attention to the chipboard frame and photo. So, I layered quite a few pieces behind the left side of the frame, and also atop of the frame. This large cluster of embellishments also helped to continue the flow of the page and directed the viewer to the title of the page. Once again, I am limiting my color palette, but also playing with texture to add interest to the page.

The Foam Stickers are just sublime in this collection. They are always a perfect starting point for your title work. I simply layered a few more pieces below the foam stickers as a way to cap off my page. All I have left to do is add my journaling under the title.

I added a few drops of white and gold acrylic ink to the page, just to bring more of the vintage feel to the look of the page. I love how this turned out! And I am sure you are going to love all your projects created with this beautiful collection, too!
