Hi Friends
Welcome back to the Simple Stories blog! It's Rebecca with you today sharing my first festive layout of the year. I LOVE scrapping Christmas layouts and always have an abundance of photos so I'm kicking off my festive scrapping with the Santa's Village collection.
When I think of Christmas I immediately think of trees, presents and wreaths. I always hang a wreath on the front door and that was the inspiration behind today's layout. I began by cutting a circle out of the centre of a sheet of smooth white cardstock. I then selected my favourite patterned papers from the collection - sticking to traditional reds and greens. I chose a mix of heavily patterned papers and some bolder, more solid papers for contrast. From these papers, I cut strips about half an inch wide - probably the same width as the branding strips at the bottom of the papers. I then shortened these strips to about 4 inches long and I cut fish tails in one end of all of them.
Alternating the papers, I then applied them around my cut-out circle to create a wreath. I folded the edges over to hide them on the back of the cardstock and secured them in place with tape. When I'd completed the full circle, I backed the open centre with patterned paper. I went for a paper with a pink background so that it sticks out against all the patterns in the wreath.
With my wreath created, I added a floral piece from the Foam Stickers at the top, with a couple of leafy sprig stickers from the Cardstock Stickers either side. This reminds me of the bow on the top of my real wreath at home!
To the bottom of my wreath, off centre, I added my two photos. I always have a little at-home photoshoot for Christmas with my little boy and the photos I'm using on this layout are from our photoshoot a couple of years ago. Around my photo I added some festive elements from the Bits & Pieces and Page Pieces packs and a title sticker from the Cardstock Stickers.
At this point I felt like anything else I put on the layout wouldn't add anything to it aesthetically. Having used so many different patterned papers, it makes the page feel quite busy and so I'm proud to say I stopped here! (Usually, I'd keep adding more and more and then tell myself off for not stopping sooner!!)
Thanks so much for reading! I hope my layout offers some inspiration to you and it kickstarts your festive scrapping! I can't wait to see what you all create with this gorgeous collection (and the other 3 Christmas offerings from Simple Stories!).
Take care
Rebecca x
