Hello crafty friends! Cheryl here on the blog today with this fun traveler’s notebook using the new Trail Mix collection.
When I look at all the elements from Trail Mix, I immediately think of travelling, nature and having a great time. I have to admit I have never been camping before, although it is on my bucket list! I thought something compact, that’s perfect on the go: a traveler’s notebook!
I have recently started making them and now I can’t stop… This is by far my favourite of them all! The size of my notebook is 4x8 inches - you can pick any size you like and are comfortable with. I chose all of my patterned paper first and trimmed them down to 8x8 inches and folded them in half. I then decided on the order of my papers as well as my front cover. I have used embroidery thread to sew my notebook along the spine! Easy peasy!
Once my notebook was assembled, I had to decide on a cover! I used another paper from the collection and cut off 1/4 inch from the sides, to make it a little bit smaller than the notebook sleeve - I still wanted that beautiful pattern to show!
I used gold metallic thread and did machine stitching around the panel and added a strip of vellum diagonally and tucked in a couple of gold sequins.
And now onto the fun part: decorating! I used a little bit of everything from the embellishments: chipboard stickers, foam stickers, cardstock stickers and even an adhesive brad to bring the front cover to live. I then went through all of the pages and did a little bit of embellishing, leaving enough space for journalling and getting those fun memories documented.
For a finishing touch I have also added seam binding to the front and back page to keep the notebook closed and added pompom trim to 3 of the pages - doesn’t it look so cute when it peaks out on the sides of the notebook? I love the texture it adds!
I think traveler’s notebooks are so versatile and I love how compact they are - making them the perfect companion for your travels!
