Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you a fun & festive layout that I created using the new Yuletide collection. This collection is all things traditional Christmas: greens, reds, golds, florals, stars, and more! I had so much fun creating this layout that features two sweet photos.
When it came to creating this layout, I knew that I wanted to create two large clusters in opposite corners. To map out where these clusters would be, I cut thin strips of paper that varied in thickness (from ½ inch to 1 inch) and staggered them in each corner. For more texture, I distressed the edges of these paper strips using my scissors and then machine stitched them down into place.
To create the double photo cluster, I started by creating two photo mats. These mats measure 2.5 x 3 inches. I machine stitched around these mats for a bit more flair, and then added my photos to them.
Next, I layered some pieces from the Ephemera pack behind my photos, just to help them jump off the page a bit more. I also added a distressed tag from the Tag Elements paper behind the photos. I then added some fun Christmas-colored twine to the tag and glued it down in a sweeping motion.
The main part of this cluster is the flowers. This collection features some GORGEOUS red and white flowers, along with some cute holly pieces in its Floral Bits & Pieces Pack. I layered the flowers both on top of and behind the photos. I used the holly pieces to create faux leaves for the flowers and then curled the petals of all the flowers to create dimension.
The finishing touches on this cluster were a small sentiment sticker under the top photo and a "Santa" brad from the Decorative Brads.
For the top cluster, I kept it a bit simpler. I used a large "25" sentiment from the Big Bits to create a secondary title. I dressed this up with a few florals that trail off into a few small paper stars. To make the stars stand out a bit more, I added an enamel dot in coordinating colors to each one.
To finish off this layout, I added my main title. I used a large "Joyful" sentiment from the Chipboard Stickers and adhered that parallel with the photo cluster. I then added an "& bright" sentiment from the Sentiments Bits & Pieces underneath that to really drive home the holiday theme.
And that's this layout finished! I had so much fun creating this project and can't wait to use this collection again! Thanks for stopping by my post today!
