Happy fall, y’all…almost! As a teacher, as soon as the new school year begins, I count it as fall, which is my favorite season. When it comes to this season, I am at no shortage of memories and photos to document. Today, I am using the new What’s Cookin’ Collection to tell a funny story about one of my favorite fall treats.
This 12 x 12 project began with the Calico Daisy Stencil and ink to create a backdrop for my photos and embellishments. I love using white card stock with mixed media to build unique backgrounds. While the stenciled image is not the main player on the layout, it does add color and depth to the project.
As I continued building the background, I machine stitched strips of patterned paper along the top and bottom of the layout.
Next, I began embellishing by first adding machine stitching to a chipboard frame before adhering it to the photo. I then created a pocket by machine stitching two 3 x 4 cut aparts, which I used to hold two more photos.
When adding journaling, I typed the story on my manual typewriter before cutting it into strips. I had planned on handwriting my journaling but preferred the typed text instead.
To complete the layout, I added embellishments to the photos as well as along the top and bottom borders. Lastly, I used the layered chipboard and sticker book to create the title.
Here’s one more look at the finished project.
Thank you so much for visiting today, and I hope you’ve been inspired to create. I, for one, have many more projects planned with the adorable What’s Cookin’ Collection and can’t wait to use it again.
