Hello friends! Emilie here with a brand-new layout created using the gorgeous SIMPLE VINTAGE LAKESIDE collection. With its forest and nature theme, you are sure to be able to document your camping trips or your nature walks.
If I must be honest, I was a little bit unsure of how I would be able to use this collection. It struck me as very masculine, the kind used to document "daddy's hobbies" when they are not football or video games. As you might know by now, I am more of a feminine scrapbooker and love my flowers and pink. I am sure you will start to feel some incompatibility coming up... But how wrong was I!!! Sophia and I love to have occasional walks in our local forest hunting for fairies and this collection was beyond perfect to document these memories. The colours of the patterned papers, the leaves and wooden imagery worked like a dream alongside my photographs. I will even go as far as to say that it helped bring them to life! I look at this layout and feel like I am back in the forest!
The process to create this layout was different from usual. I decided to design this page around using the largest banner from the BANNER STICKER SHEET. This is a part of the vintage collections that I rarely use, and I wanted to try and come up with a design which would make it shine. One thing I love about these banners is that they make an easy job of integrating our photographs as well as already come up fully embellished thanks to their beautiful design. I love that, in essence, they make our creative work easier!
Then came selecting my patterned papers. I wanted the colours to work with my photographs but also wanted them to be perfectly in tune with the "walk in the woods" theme. I discarded the fish, duck and moose patterns but was left with a huge amount of choice non the less. I settled on the teal, brown and black ones and created a lot of texture by tearing them and rolling the edges around my paint brush handle. If you are unsure on this technique, make sure to check out my YouTube process video linked down below at the end of this post!
Then came the fun part of layering as many leaves stickers and ephemeras in order to re-create the feel from the forest. I started by the stickers to create a base and then added as many ephemeras as I felt the need. Again, this was made easier by the already decorated banner!
Once my title was chosen, I attached it to my layout and added a few more wordings which suited my story.
The last touch to my layout was a flurry of butterflies finding resting places all around the layout. They really add a natural touch and make it all come to life.
You can view the process video on how I created this layout on my YouTube channel here:
I hope that I gave you some ideas on how to use the BANNER STICKERS as well as how to use the SIMPLE VINTAGE LAKESIDE collection. Make sure you get your hand on it before it is too late!
Lots of love,
Emilie xxx
