HOCO Fun

HOCO Fun
Hello, Simple Stories friends! Summer is winding down and I am slowly gearing up for the  school year and a new group of students in class. As a high school teacher, I am able to enjoy all of the school activities alongside the students. One of my favorites is homecoming week and many of the festivities that include: class competitions, assemblies, a staff BBQ in the parking lot, and of course the football game.
Today’s project features fun photo strips of my coworker and I that were taken at the HOCO game. I am loving the new Say Cheese Classic Mouse collection, and I wanted to show that the product can be used on projects that are not necessarily Disney related.
Let’s take a look at the 12 x 12 layout.
When creating this project, I began by using the “smooshing” method to add Hickory Smoke and Lost Shadow oxide inks to white cardstock.
Next, I selected three patterned papers that match the photos and added them to the left side of the project with each layer ¼ inch wider than the previous. After backing the photo strips and mapping out where they would be adhered, I cut the filmstrip rub-on in half and applied each piece to the left and right of the photos.
My favorite part – embellishing - was next, and I used bits of just about everything included with the collection. First, I added the party fan die cuts around the photo strips to give depth and texture. Next, I used letter stickers from the sticker book to create the “HOCO” title – when doing this, I always back the stickers with cardstock and fussy cut them. Doing so allows me to easily place the letters/stickers where I want. Beneath the photos, I used the large “fun” sentiment to complete the title.
I continued embellishing by using die cuts and foam stickers on and around the photos.
Next, I used my manual typewriter to type my journaling before cutting the text into strips and adhering them to the project with foam tape.
I continued embellishing the project using stickers, foam stickers and decorative brads. Additionally, I added paper strips, washi tape, and a sticker border along the left side of the project.
This project was so fun to make, and I enjoyed challenging myself to use the collection on a layout that is not Disney themed.
Thank you so much for visiting today. I hope you have been inspired to pull out your photos and get your memories documented. Creating this scrapbook layout was not only a fun way to preserve my memories but also an opportunity to express my creativity. By combining various techniques and materials from the Simple Stories Say Cheese Classic Mouse collection, I was able to craft a unique and personalized page that truly captures the magic and fun of my HOCO adventure.
