Hello Spring! by Shellye McDaniel

Hello Spring! by Shellye McDaniel
Bunnies, Carrots and Baskets are go great with Spring and Easter! Paper baskets woven with beautiful papers are easy to make and fun to fill with your own handcrafted carrots. I'm sharing the free carrot printable below too!

I started with the "Bunnies + Blooms" Collection Kit and cut three different patterns of paper into 1"X12" strips. Next, I cut a 3.5" Circle from a light chipboard and then cut a 1.5"X12" strip of paper from the patterned paper. I scored the paper at the 0.5" mark, folded and then cut small slits into the folded area, up to the score line. The strip was then glued around the bottom of the circle by the flap. I have a quick video to demonstrate how this was done YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Next, I cut 5" strips from a few of the 1X12" paper strips and glued them to the inside of the paper strip band, leaving approximately 1/4" gap between each strip. After the vertical strips were all in place, I began weaving the longer, 12" strips, horizontally.

The front was decorated with one of the journal cards and then layered with the large foam "Spring" sticker and then embellished with puffy stickers and adhesive brads!

To the inside of the basket I crafted these adorable paper carrot containers!  They're perfect for little treats. I started with this FREE PRINTABLE. I cut the template out as closely to the black line as possible and then glued it to the backside of the patterned papers. Finally, I trimmed the design out carefully. scored, folded and glued to edges together.
For the green tops, I simply cut rectangles of ColorVibe Brights Green paper and then cut long slivers into the paper.

To the opening of the basket, I lined it with a pom trim and then filled with crinkle paper:

Make smaller versions as place settings or larger ones for a centerpiece!  And be sure to check out the YOUTUBE VIDEO as I quickly walk you through the steps for making this sweet basket ensemble.
Happy Early Spring!
