Hello Simple Stories friends!
It's Nathalie with you today with a new project featuring the gorgeous FRONT PORCH collection. The collection is perfect for all sorts of projects especially documenting your more beloved memories. I am sure that most of you have those "special" pictures that you are saving for just the perfect collection, well, l pulled one of mine to create this layout
I seriously had a hard time cutting into the beautiful papers, but I had this idea to update a classic design. So, I set to cut diamonds from the 6x8 paper pad (checkered paper) and also from the Simple Things paper - these are just about 1/2"larger than the ones from the paper pad- I adhered the larger diamonds side by side across the Stay Awhile paper.
Next, I adhere the diamonds from the paper pad, so that they sit between the ones in the background but chose to fold the inner corners, so they expose the back diamond on the base. I decided to tie the fold to the diamond - I punched holes and ran white twine through the holes- as means to add extra texture and keep the fold in place.
I placed my photo in the center diamond making sure the folds did not cover it. I added a small scalloped border below the photo, then searched for matching floral clusters to add to the ends of the border. I wanted small little details peeking from under the folded edge of the diamonds.
To soften the angles of the diamonds, I am adding a few extra clusters of florals around the folded edges making sure they do not cover the twine or overpower the design on the background. I added just a few extra word phrase stickers to each of the clusters to tie all the page together.
I constructed the title at the bottom half of the center diamond. I am combining foam stickers with die cuts and stickers to bring the title together, being careful to keep it centered so that the shape of the diamonds is not lost. I then decided to add a few butterflies -in the opposite direction of the paper folds- to bring extra movement, and make sure the photo pops off the page.
I just love how this layout turned out. The beautiful Front Porch collection is sure to help you document those special memories, and also with your other crafty projects. Be sure to check it out!
