Happy Birthday - Simple Set Birthday

Happy Birthday - Simple Set Birthday
Hi friends, it's Rebecca Moore @preciouspagespapercraft here, sharing a 12x12 layout created using one of the new Simple Sets. I don't know about you, but when it comes to birthdays, I only ever tend to scrap 1 or 2 layouts so I don't really need a WHOLE collection. That's what makes the Simple Sets so perfect! They are smaller collections, which include 6 double sided papers and a sticker sheet. The Simple Set Birthday collection kit includes 71 pieces so there's plenty to make a few layouts or cards.

I was really drawn to the 'It's My Day' patterned paper as the bottom section has a subtle grid design, but with the colourful bunting section at the top, it felt like some of the embellishing had been done for me, so I decided to use this as my background. I wanted to add a bit of drama though, so I added some dramatic black splatters using watered-down black Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I cut 3 circles from the other patterned papers and overlapped them slightly towards the bottom of the page. On top of these, I've added my 3x4 inch photo. I decided to print my photo in black and white for this page because there were a lot of different colours in the photo and I felt like they detracted from the bright colours of the collection. The black and white photo also works nicely with the black splatters.

For my title, I've used one of the cardstock stickers which reads 'Happy Birthday'. I placed it to the left of the photo to help balance the bottom part of the layout out nicely, as I'd positioned the circles more to the right.

The Simple Sets collections don't have all the added extras such as chipboard and bits and pieces, so embellishing this layout was really easy. I selected some stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet that I wanted to use. A little tip from me - stick your stickers to white cardstock and then fussy cut them out! Not only does this make them a bit sturdier, but it means you can move them about and reposition them until you are happy with your placement.

I've added an extra bunting sticker to the top of the layout, and balloons, a cake and lots of stars to the bottom section. I finished off with some smaller stickers - little colourful dots and some phrases, which I raised up on foam pads.

I love how quickly this layout came together and I love how the dramatic pops of black make the colours really 'pop'.

Have you also seen the Simple Sets Happy New Year? Another smaller collection that you could mix and match with Simple Sets Birthday to make all sorts of wonderful celebration projects!

Thanks for reading. I hope my layout has offered you some inspiration to get those celebration and birthday photos scrapped!

See you next time.
