Grow Wild & Free

We're so excited to welcome back Emilie Chamel to our 2023 design team. We can't wait to share her work with you. Before we jump into that, we want you to get to know Emilie a little better.

Bio:

Hi friends! I am Emilie Chamel, and I am French living in the UK. I am so grateful and excited to be on the Simple Stories Design Team for a third year!  I started scrapbooking back in 2006 and took this hobby back on again in 2018 after a break due to life getting in the way. I am the mommy to the most amazing little girl called Sophia who you might “know” from my layouts of which is at the centre of 99% of the time. I can’t wait to hopefully inspire you some more! You can find me on Instagram at @emiliechamel

 3) 3 fun facts:

-I love home decorating TV programs! Dream Home Makeover as well as The Home Edit are on my watchlist as unmissable.

-As a three-year-old, I named my first pet (a cat) Chocolat (chocolate) after a story we had been read at pre-school.

-My biggest personal achievement is completing the Paris Marathon back in 2015. I was injured during the course of the race so haven’t been able to get back to running since but still hope that one day I will be able to.

Hello friends! Emilie here with a brand-new layout created using the incredibly stunning WILDFLOWER collection. When I first saw this collection, I knew it would rapidly become one of my all-time favourite. Lots of florals, all my favourite colours and just the right amount of vintage touch. I love it!

With such a gorgeous collection, I wanted to let the patterned paper shine and do a lot of the work for me. With this in mind I decided to stay away from plain cardstock and only use the patterned papers.

I cut-out a very large heart at an angle on the right-hand side of my already trimmed BEAUTIFUL VIEW sheet. The discarded piece can be kept for a future project to mat photographs or even still in the heart shape. I machine stitched all around the edge to add texture and help the heart design stand-out.
I then mounted my patterned paper onto the B side of the 4x6 elements sheet using double sided foam tape. It adds dimension and help the heart stand out even more.

I mounted my photograph onto the pink gingham patterned paper. I started looking for a title and wanted to help it really stand out against my busy photograph, so I mounted the FOAM STICKER title onto more patterned paper to give it a little bit more “lift” against the backdrop of my photo.
Now we got onto the fun part as it was time to decorate with all the stunning florals. I started by adding some floral stickers from the STICKER PAD onto my background as this would help me to create even more depth. Next came adding all the florals from the FLORAL BITS AND PIECES pack. I always give them a little bit more life by curling them around a paint brush before sticking them down.

I added a couple of tags and butterflies from the JOURNAL BITS AND PIECES pack for interest. I also chose one where to place the date my photograph was taken.
The finishing touch came with a few BRADS just to help re-enforce the visual triangle around my photograph.
I am so in love with the final project! This collection is incredibly stunning and so easy to create with!
Make sure you get your hand on WILDFLOWER at your local Scrapbook store before it is too late!

Lots of love,

Emilie xxx
