Ahhh the beautiful colors of fall! If you’re a gardener like me you’ll notice your annuals drooping more each day, and no matter how much watering you do they just can’t be revived. It’s their natural cycle. They’ve produced blooms, fruits, and seeds to ensure that they live on in the next generation in the coming seasons.
But don’t despair! There is still such bold color to be discovered everywhere! As the weather turns colder and there’s a chill in the air you’ll notice the leaves turning color and an abundance of apples, pumpkins, gourds, and of course chrysanthemums to feast your eyes on!
The Simple Stories Simple Vintage Country Harvest Collection captures all the beauty of the Fall harvest. You’ll find beautiful blooms, colorful leaves, crisp apples, ripe pumpkins, and some butterflies too!
The prints are gorgeous! You’ll find plaid, check, polka dots, florals, and more beautiful butterflies! What I love best are the complementary colors of orange and blue! It’s so striking it demands a second look!
My cards are made with the 12” Collection Kit. I always start by cutting down the sheets that make good foundations for building focal points on my cards, like the 3x4 journaling cards and the journal elements. The rest of the papers are cut into 6” squares and arranged so I can see all of my paper choices front and back.
Next, I spread out all of the die-cut pieces and chipboard. I sort the pieces by subject, like sentiments, pumpkins, flowers, butterflies, hearts, etc. Finally, I get to arrange the pieces. I use clear plastic sheets the size of my card base to mix and match the elements to my heart’s content. When I’m happy with the arrangement I can slide different pattern prints under the clear plastic to see what pleases my eye most.
Of course, this collection includes all the trimmings – printed die-cut bits and pieces, chipboard, foam stickers, enamel dots, washi, and decorative brads.
I think my favorite part is embellishing the cards. It’s like the sprinkles on a cupcake! I love to add a bit of washi, enamel dots, and a decorative brad to each one. Can you spot them on each card?
I hope you’ll turn to this collection for documenting your favorite fall memories, or for cardmaking. I think sometimes we get so busy we forget to stop and look around and notice the simple pleasures in life. These cards are a great reminder to savor each season and make the most of every day.
