Hey, Simple Stories friends! Marsha here with you today, and I am so excited to be sharing my first project as part of the Simple Stories Design Team! I used the Happily Ever After collection to create a gift album I am sure will be cherished for many years to come.
My parents will be celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary in June, and I thought this beautiful collection would be perfect for documenting their wedding day. They only have a handful of photos from the day, so I was sure to leave space for them in the album, along with lots of room for journaling.
For my project, I chose to use the new Whitewashed Wood 6x8 Flipbook. I love a good wood grain pattern, and it matches this collection perfectly! To decorate the cover, I selected a chipboard frame and backed it with patterned paper trimmed slightly larger. I added machine stitching around the edges of the patterned paper for extra texture. I also trimmed two triangular shapes from another patterned paper and adhered them to the corners of the cover. I like how this balances out the design. Next, I used a variety of chipboard stickers and die cuts from the ephemera bits and pieces to embellish, also using foam tape to add dimension to some of the die cuts. To finish the cover, I added a decorative brad and puffy heart sticker.
I trimmed a page protector for the first page of the album to hold two 3x4 patterned paper cards. I like varying the page sizes in an album as it adds extra interest to the project. I used washi tape to decorate the edge of the page protector and also added a washi strip to both cards. For the title, I used a die cut from the Wedding Memories Page Pieces and embellished the page with chipboard, cardstock stickers, and a die cut from the ephemera bits and pieces.
For the other side of the pocket page, I trimmed a card from the 6x8 Paper Pad and a striped patterned paper from the collection kit. I included a photo spot and embellished the cards with decorative brads, enamel dots, cardstock stickers, and ephemera bits and pieces.
I always add a pocket to my albums for holding additional journaling, ephemera, and photos. I trimmed a patterned paper to fit as a full page and created the pocket by machine stitching along three sides of a trimmed patterned paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I used ephemera bits and pieces, a puffy heart sticker, and a die cut from the Wedding Memories Page Pieces to decorate the pocket.
I included journaling spots with cut apart elements from the collection kit and a die cut from the journal bits and pieces. The cards slide easily into the pocket, and I love the texture and interest this adds to the page!
The next few pages are dedicated to the wedding ceremony. I used a paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad that was designed to include the details of this special day.
I machine stitched a scalloped border cardstock sticker along the bottom of the page. I love this little detail!
I used a patterned paper from the collection kit to create the background and included a spot for a large photo. The chipboard stickers and florals from the ephemera bits and pieces were perfect for framing the photo spot.
I had so much fun creating pocket cards using patterned papers and the cut apart tags paper. I added machine stitching in a few areas and ribbon to the top of the tags. The decorative brads added a fun pop to one of the cards. I couldn't resist using a few more puffy stickers and chipboard stickers to embellish the cards. So fun!
I love how this album turned out using the beautiful Happily Ever After collection! It includes so many lovely details, perfect for documenting a special and memorable day!
