Hello Simple Stories friends, happy Monday to you all! This is Gloria Parra here today with a new layout featuring the awesome What’s Cookin'? collection! Let me tell you, I am in LOVE with the vivid colors, the florals and the motifs in this cooking collection, and I don’t even cook, LOL! Our friend Kelly Bangs (the awesome designer of this collection) just gets me with every collection she creates, stunning!!! For this layout I wanted a red, teal and pink color story that went well with the cute family photos that I am using. We had such a blast making and decorating Christmas cookies with my girls!

I started my layout with the red plaid patterned paper as my base. I wanted to use the beautiful light pink floral paper, so I cut it at 5x12”  to create a big band for my layout. I added some stitching to the borders with some pink thread. I love the texture that stitching adds to my layouts.

I then cut a piece of the teal plaid patterned paper at 6x12 and layered my floral piece on top. I added some stitching to this layer as well…I adhered my big band at the top third of my layout.

My 2 photos are printed at 3x4” and I placed them at the bottom right of my paper band. I was so attracted to the mason jar big element that I decided to use it as my journaling spot and as my main embellishment in one of my embellishment clusters, it was too adorable not to!

I added a couple other die cut elements on my embellishment clusters that reminded me of that special family moment. I added the big cabinet that looked just like the one on the back of us in the picture. I also added some utensils and ingredients from the chipboard sticker sheet that reminded me of all we used on our cooking adventure.

At the top of my photo I added some little tickets from the sticker book and a floral element, since it felt a little empty, like something was missing. On the top embellishment cluster I added a little chipboard flower and a darling plate.

Finally, for my title I decided to use the gorgeous Family chipboard word and the beautiful layered chipboard circle with some cute family sayings. To finish my layout, I sprinkled around some chipboard hearts at the top and the bottom, after all love was all around that unforgettable family moment!

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you would like to see how I put this layout together you can watch my process video on my You Tube channel @gloriascraps

Have a wonderful crafty week friends!

Hugs,
Gloria
