FaBOOlous Cards and Treats!

FaBOOlous Cards and Treats!
Hello friends! It’s Tya up on the blog today! Welcome to my latest spooktacular set of cards! This time up I just had to add a little twist since it is almost Halloween! In this blog post, I’m thrilled to share with you the magic of the “Faboolous” collection, as I show you how I created six unique fun fold cards. Each card not only offers a treat for the eyes but also a special spot for a delightful sweet surprise! Are you ready to see what I made?
Let me walk you through the process of how I made the cards by providing a little tutorial! That way you can make some of your own!
Supplies You’ll Need:

  • FaBOOlous collection from Simple Stories
  • Color Vibe Cardstock in various colors
  • Adhesive (double-sided tape, glue)
  • Scissors
  • A scoring tool and paper trimmer
  • Lots of embellishments – Ephemera, enamel dots, Decorative Brads, Cardstock Stickers, ribbons, and twine
  • A variety of treats to fill the box portion.
  • Paper to add to the back of the card to write a message – I used the Color Vibe Elm/Cream paper.

  1. Choose Your Card Designs
I knew I wanted to utilize a mix of the 3x4 Elements paper and the 3x4 cut-apart papers in the 6x8 Paper pad since that size fit so perfectly on the card front. The FaBOOlous collection offers a variety of spooky and fun patterns to play with. You can choose themes like pumpkins, witches, ghosts, or even a haunted house for your cards. I used mainly pattern papers from the 6x8 Paper pad and the Color Vibe cardstock to create the cards.

  1. Cut and Fold
Now we need to make the card base. I took a 4 ¼ x 11-inch piece of the Color Vibe cardstock and scored it on the 11-inch side at 5 ½ x 6 ¾, 8 ¾ and 10 inches. Fold on all the score lines making the box shape on the bottom with the dot side of the paper facing out. Glue the back flap to the back of the large side of the card.
Next, I took another piece of Color Vibe cardstock – this one measures 2 ¾ x 5 5/8. I scored this paper on the 5 5/8 inch side at 3/8 and 1 5/8.  Set this aside for now.
Next, choose your favorite pattern paper that you want on the top portion of the card. Cut this paper to 4 x 3 ¼ inches. If you have a directional paper you are using, cut the 4-inch side first and then the 3 ¼ side so the paper is going in the right direction. Glue this to the card base right above the box portion.
Now we can add our second piece of Color Vibe cardstock we scored earlier. Glue the paper to the bottom edge of the box, and the small flap to the pattern paper on the upper portion of the card base.

3-Decorate and Embellish
Let your creative juices flow! Decorate your cards using all of the super fun elements from the Faboolous collection. This is where you can make each card unique. Add stickers, Ephemera die-cuts, and other embellishments. I also added some ribbon and twine to my cards for some texture!

  1. Fill the Treat Holders!
This is the fun part!  Choose your favorite treats that fit in the space at the bottom of the box. I chose mostly flat candy bars and I did add small 3x5 inch cellophane bags filled with mini candies to a couple of the boxes as well.
  1. Finishing Touches
To make this a card- as well as a fun treat box- I added a 4 x 5 ¼ sheet of Color Vibe Elm/ Cream Grid paper to the back of the card base. You can add sentiments, additional decorations, or even a personal touch like handwritten notes here.
Creating these fun fold cards with the " Faboolous" collection was an absolute treat! The joy of combining the simply adorable "Faboolous" collection with the excitement of the surprise treat is what makes creating these little cuties so fun! I can’t wait to give these out to my special little spooky friends and family members! I hope you enjoy making these cards as much as I did!

Happy crafting!
