Documenting December

Documenting December

Howdy everyone, Layle Koncar, Director of Marketing here to share with you some holiday memory keeping cheer :)  I'm documenting each day of the month in December through Christmas day, inspired by Ali Edwards and her December Daily concept.  This will be the 11th consecutive year I've participated and it's something I look forward to ever year.  Even better, when I pull the past years' albums out for the holidays, our 2 teenage boys love looking through them!

I'm using the Merry & Bright 6x8 Album + lots of goodies from the Merry & Bright collection.  The Holiday Binder is so great for documenting a busy month like December because it has 2" rings which provides much needed extra room for everything that happens during the month!

I've learned over the years that the best way to ensure success for me - success being to make it through entire month! - is by creating the base of my album ahead of time.  That way once December 1st hits, I'm ready to go.  Each night (or the following day), I take a few minutes to document a memory or story from the day and add photos.

This year I've had to embrace the song 'Let It Go' from Frozen :)  I've had 3 travel trips so far this month, so I am WAYYYY behind.  But you know what, that is A-OK.   I'm doing my best to let go the pressure of staying caught up and just enjoy the process and the holiday season.

I have made it through Day 5, so I thought it would be fun to share those days!

Days 1-3

I was out of town the first 3 days of the month teaching at a store so I combined those days together -

I love mixing different size pages & interactive elements in my albums, it really helps to break things up.

Day 4

Our youngest son has a birthday on the 4th, so I have a built in subject every year in my albums on the 4th!  I used a fabric pocket as the 'page', punched holes and then added a card that tucked into the pocket.

Day 5

On the 5th I've talked about some of the decorations around our house.

So there you have it, the 1st 5 days of the month, all documented; now for the next 20 -  wish me luck!  ;)  The good news is that I'm in town now until mid January and have some time off starting next week, so I should have plenty of time to finish.

If you want to follow along as I make my way through the month, I'll be sharing photos on my Instagram account here at laylekoncar.

Wishing you & your family a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!
